The Grinberg Method®

The Grinberg Method is a holistic learning approach that uses somatic experience and body awareness to:

  • Increase your Well-Being
  • Develop and Grow the Awareness of Yourself
  • Break Free from Negative Habits and Limitations

Developed in the 1980s by Avi Grinberg, It focuses its process of learning on the way the individual perceives and acts in the world through the body: how they constrict the body in uncomfortable situations, perceive the world through the interpretation of the mind, and limit their potential.

The principles of the Grinberg Method are:

Body Awareness

Through bodywork techniques, practitioners guide clients to become more aware of their body sensations and restraints. This awareness can help identify areas of tension or limitation.

Experiential Path

During the sessions, you will experience Bodily Sensations and Emotions rather than intellectualize them. So when life tests you, you’re not unprepared —you recognize the sensation, you know what you need, and you know how to handle it.

Self-Regulation

The method aims to teach individuals how to regulate their own physical state. This can include managing pain, reducing stress, enhancing sensitivity, and improving movement.

Holistic Approach

The Grinberg Method views the mind and body as interconnected. By addressing physical limitations, there is an impact on emotional and mental well-being.

Learning Process

The Grinberg Method is not a massage or a passive treatment. you actively participate in sessions, learning to sense the body and act upon the truth of their sensations.

Learn to Feel, Pay Attention, and Release — One Session at a Time.

Each session begins with approximately 10 minutes of foot analysis. During this time, we discuss your goals and identify how the somatic pattern you’re struggling with manifests in your body.
Through foot reflexology, I can assess your physical and emotional well-being based on how your experiences leave imprints on your posture. These signs help us pinpoint where in your body you hold tension and how it relates to your current challenges.

The bodywork itself is an interactive process—not a passive experience like a traditional massage. Using my touch, I guide your attention to specific areas of the body and may ask you to contract, release, breathe deeply, or describe your sensations. This active involvement allows you to connect with your body, become present in the moment, and learn how certain patterns stand between you and your goals.

The length of a Grinberg Process depends on your individual goals and commitment. Many clients notice improvements in well-being and attention within 1–2 sessions, but deeper transformations typically unfold over a series of around 8 sessions.

The pandemic widened our horizons in terms of home activities. Work, learning, and training have now a dimension that is more intimate compared to the past. Streaming became something more common and allowed many new possibilities, including receiving sessions in a home environment.

The core of the bodywork I practice is Body Attention: Sensing, Feeling, and Being Aware of the body as a channel to be in the Now, to experience reality, and to be our True-Selves.

This can be taught also without physical touch, by being involved with my attention in what you experience and using verbal instructions instead of my hands to guide you in training Body Attention.

The workflow is the same as in a face-to-face session: we start from what you want to achieve, and together we define what stands between you and the goal you want to pursue.

I’m one of the founder members of GMOS, a community of Grinberg Practitioners working online and active since 2020.

The Grinberg Method works through a combination of techniques that focus on bringing awareness to the body and its sensations.

Touch and focused attention

The touch is used to guide you in feeling specific areas of the body, to focus your attention, and to experience sensations such as tightness, warmth, or tingling.

Breath

The breath is the link to the now and the way it gets influenced by physical patterns points out the way you approach a specific situation. Being aware of the way you breathe and being able to modify it, makes it possible to influence your level of energy and attention.

Foot analysis

Your well-being, attitude, and mindset influence the posture leaving marks on the feet, and foot reflexology makes it possible to assess your physical and emotional condition through what the body has experienced, rather than what your mind interprets.

Stopping

Learning to sense and be aware of limiting physical patterns gives you the choice to stop them. This allows the possibility of experiencing your body in a new way, relieving discomfort, experiencing your full range of feelings, and gaining back the energy that patterns take away.

Self-Discovery and Learning

The Grinberg Method requires your active participation. Over time, you learn to sense your body more intuitively and identify areas that need your attention. You will be able to apply what learned during the sessions in your daily life, managing your well-being and taking the needed actions.

Body therapy, especially approaches like the Grinberg Method, offers numerous advantages:

Heightened Body Awareness: It helps individuals become more aware of their body’s signals, recognizing physical sensations that might reflect emotional states or unmet needs.

Stress Reduction: By addressing tension and discomfort, body therapy promotes relaxation, alleviate stress, and prevent burnout.

Chronic Pain Relief: It can help resolve chronic conditions by addressing their physical and emotional roots rather than just managing symptoms.

Better Emotional Regulation: By tuning into bodily sensations, people can gain clarity on emotions, leading to healthier emotional responses and decision-making.

Increased Energy and Vitality: Letting go of tension and old coping mechanisms can free up energy and help people feel more vibrant and alive.

Personal Growth: Body therapy facilitates self-awareness and personal development, empowering people to live in line with their true needs and desires.

If you’re ready to stop running from the body and start listening to its wisdom, I’d love to be your guide.
