Caring Through the Feet
The Art of Supportive Touch

A Hands-On Footwork & Reflexology Workshop

Working directly on areas like the neck, back, or belly can feel intimidating: whether from the fear of causing physical discomfort or the awkwardness of navigating personal boundaries.
This two-day workshop focuses on the feet precisely because they offer a remarkably safe, non-intrusive entry point.

Working with the feet is a grounded, accessible way to care for those close to you and support the body in releasing accumulated physical effort and tension.
Over two days, you will learn practical footwork techniques to support others; moving step-by-step from initial contact to delivering complete 30-to-40-minute sessions to partners, family, or friends at home.

This workshop offers a down-to-earth foundation for home care. Rather than memorizing rigid clinical charts or sitting through abstract lectures, you will build a versatile vocabulary of touch through direct physical practice.

Hands-On Experience First: Direct touch, real-time observation, and equal time giving and receiving sessions.

No Esoteric Mechanics: A structured method focused purely on physical presence, relaxation, and body awareness, free of medical or mystical claims.

Core Touch Vocabulary: Master fundamental forms of touch (movement, pressure, holds) that adapt fluidly to what the receiver’s body needs.

Immediate Application: Walk away with 4 targeted session flows plus the confidence to offer intuitive, tailored sessions at home.

Footwork has ancient roots across cultures—from Egypt and China to modern somatic practices—based on a simple physical reality: the feet are a detailed map of how the body carries effort, weight, and tension.

In my practice as a body therapist, the feet are one of the most effective tools for two main reasons:

  • Observing Physical Vitality: The feet offer immediate feedback. Muscle tone, temperature, and mobility in different zones reveal where the body is holding tension, guarding against movement, or withholding breath.
  • Indirect Support for Sensitive Areas: The feet allow us to support regions of the body where direct touch is either physically impossible, overly intense, or inappropriate—such as internal organs, the lower abdomen and pelvic area, or regions recovering from surgery or injury.

You don’t need to memorize historical charts or energy meridians to make use of this. In this workshop, you will learn how to read those physical cues and use the feet as an accessible bridge to unburden the entire body.

Over the weekend, you will learn 5 targeted session flows designed to support the body in releasing the most common patterns of daily effort and tension.

Upper Body & BreathWorking specific foot zones that reflect chest and shoulder tightness relieves physical contraction in the upper torso. This eases upper body burden, creates space around the ribs, and supports natural, unforced breathing.
Digestion & Core TensionSteady, grounding footwork on the midfoot addresses central abdominal holding and deep core tightness. This releases strain, unburdens the belly, supports the digestive system, and restores a felt sense of physical grounding.
Lower Back & BellyGentle traction and targeted holds unburden tension in the lower spine and lower abdomen. This creates space and stability throughout the pelvis and lower back, offering supportive care for easing lower back tension and menstrual discomfort.
Silence & Mental QuietDeep, downward-drawing touch redirects sensation away from a busy mind straight into the whole body. This softens head pressure, quiets mental chatter, and invites a state of restful, physical stillness.
Intuitive Free-FlowCombining movement, pressure, and holds based on real-time physical observation. You learn to blend forms fluidly, building customized 30-to-40-minute sessions tailored to whatever the receiver’s body needs in the moment.

Open to everyone, whether you want to support a partner, care for family and friends, or simply learn a practical physical skill. No prior experience in bodywork, therapy, or touch is needed.

Total Beginners:

You don’t need any background in anatomy, massage, or somatic work; just a curiosity to learn through your hands in a structured, comfortable space.

Partners & Couples:

Learn a meaningful, non-verbal way to offer physical comfort and support at home after long or stressful days. (Note: All registrations are individual. We rotate partners during exercises so everyone experiences working with different types of feet.)

Solo Explorers:

Come on your own and meet like-minded participants.

Mindful Caregivers:

Anyone looking for tangible, down-to-earth tools to support partners and family in unlearning patterns of physical strain.

You don’t need to take notes or rely on memory alone. At the start of the workshop, you will receive a printed, comprehensive Take-Home Booklet containing:

  • Detailed step-by-step guides for all 5 session flows.
  • Clear descriptions of the core forms of touch (movement, pressure, and holds).
  • Guidance on observing physical tension, breath, and body responses.
  • Simple frameworks to help you structure full 30-to-40-minute sessions at home.

Step 1: Clear Demonstrations
Watch precise breakdowns of contact, grip, pressure, and movement forms.

Step 2: Paired Practice
Give and receive each technique under supportive guidance to feel the real-time physical feedback.

Step 3: Simple Take-Home Frameworks
Master repeatable frameworks so you can seamlessly offer full sessions at home without guessing.
